Identifying features are:
- Adult worms are 3 mm to 6 mm long.
- Presence of scolex, a short neck, and usually only three proglottids.
- Nonretractable rostellum bears a double crown of 28 to 50 (usually 30 to 36) hooks.
- Hermaphrodite.
- The anterior most segment is immature; the middle one is usually mature; and the terminal one is gravid.
- The gravid uterus is an irregular longitudinal sac.
- Mature cysts contain: Hydatid Fluid, Brood capsules,& Protoscolices.
